With a number of activities to visit between Rotorua & Taupo and then in Taupo itself, here are a few of the best options that our guests love. We have flexible schedules and itineraries and can help you get the most out of your day. Here’s an example of what your day tour to Taupo could look like.
The day starts with a pick up from your accommodation at 8.00am. Our first stop is halfway between Rotorua & Taupo at the Wai-O-Tapu geothermal wonderland where you can experience some of NZ’s best natural volcanic activity and hot water pools. After exploring Wai-O-Tapu, we move on to the world famous Huka Falls where the mighty Waikato River forces it’s way through a 20m wide channel carved into solid rock before dropping below. That’s at a rate of 22,000 liters of water every second! For the adrenaline junkies among the group, we can pop over and ride the Huka Jet (jet boat) which is a thrilling ride of spins, and precision driving which takes you right up to the base of the falls.
By now you would have worked up an appetite and with Huka Prawn Farm right next to Huka Jet we can stop off and catch your own prawns, which are cooked and prepared for lunch. Alternatively you can order from their stunning menu.
In the afternoon, you jump on a boat on stunning Lake Taupo (the biggest freshwater lake in the Southern hemisphere) to view the famous Maori Rock Carvings after which we head back towards Rotorua stopping at ‘Craters of the Moon’ for walk through the geothermal wonderland.
After such a long day we shortly after stop at locals favourite, the Waikite Valley Hot Pools where you can spend and hour soaking and relaxing in naturally heated outdoor pools, surrounded by naturally beautiful NZ bush. We arrive back in Rotorua at approximately 6:00pm.
